BANGALORE, INDIA: Which is the fastest growing mobile platforms for developing  application:  Android or iOS? The debate is on even as a recent report from Ovum stated that Google's Android will soon replace Apple's iOS as the most important platform to developers.

In an interaction with CIOL, Chirag Srivastava, senior manager business architect, CSC India shared his views on the growing competition in the mobile application development industry and the factors that are contributing to the rise of mobile applications. With its philosophy being Keep it simple, keep it secure, CSC is prepared to face the challenge of mobile explosion

CIOL: How is CSC unique in offering solutions for enterprise applications?

Chirag Srivastava: Mobility has been here for more than a decade in one form or another. In the recent past it has started catching up a lot because of the advent of smart phones. CSC has been successfully developing mobile enterprise applications for its customers for close to a decade.

At CSC we see the mobility domain as a strength area. CSC’s Mobility enterprise services portfolio has been designed keeping in view end-to-end mobility and with the user as the center. On one hand, it includes mobility applications and on the other it includes mobile devices management.

The services include developing a mobile strategy and roadmap, simulations using Vis-edge (CSC’s offering for creating simulations) to Mobile applications testing to Mobile applications maintenance and Mobile Device Management (MDM).

CSC covers the entire breadth of mobile enterprise professionals through its solutions, having developed applications for the Mobile Executive (Applications meant to be used by the high profile executives of an organization) as well as the Mobile Worker (professionals who need access to enterprise data on the move).

Our philosophy is: keep it simple, keep it secure. 

CIOL: How do you see the competition in the mobile application development industry?

CS: Although mobility has been there for more than a decade, it has started getting a lot of attention now and most of the players in the industry have now started building assets and services around mobile application development.

Most of the players are starters and are yet to mature to being a full-fledged mobility solution provider or a one-stop shop for mobility needs. The number of experienced players is very less compared to more experienced players like CSC.
