SAN FRANCISCO: URS Corporation has been awarded a contract by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide technical assistance and task management services for FEMA hazard mitigation programs. The five year contract has a maximum value of $150 million to URS.

Under the terms of the contract, URS will provide mitigation planning; pre-disaster mitigation grant program assistance; environmental and historic preservation reviews; risk assessment and hazard modeling that integrates geographic information system (GIS) technology and automated flood studies. URS will also provide loss avoidance studies; cost / benefit analyses; and training services.

"URS has a long standing relationship with FEMA, including supporting the agency in responding to more than 200 federally declared disasters over the past 15 years," said Gary V. Jandegian, President of the URS Division. "We look forward to continuing to assist FEMA on its critical mission of helping communities preparing for, protect against, and recover from disasters."

URS provides services for power, infrastructure, industrial and commercial, and federal projects and programs.
