MAIT names Ravi Aggarwal as president

NEW DELHI: MAIT, the apex body representing India’s IT hardware, training and R&D services sectors, today organised its twenty-sixth annual session, in which it announced the change of guards at the Association.

The meeting named Ravi Aggarwal, president (Imaging & Printing Group), Hewlett Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd as the new president whereas and Sandeep Nair, managing director, Emerson Network Power (India) Pvt Ltd would be the vice president for the term 2009-10.

Making the announcement, Vinnie Mehta, executive director, MAIT said, both Ravi and Sandeep have contributed immensely to the development of IT market in the country.

“We are pleased to have Ravi Aggarwal on board as the President of MAIT. An industry veteran, with in-depth exposure to various aspects of the IT industry, he is immensely respected in the industry circles for his incisive vision and astute knowledge. We are also delighted to have Sandeep Nair as our vice president.”

He added that, with their vast experience, they would add immense value towards augmenting and furthering the IT industry eco-system in the country.

Ravi Aggarwal said it is an honour to be the president of MAIT at a juncture when the industry is about to reach its point of inflection.

“Creativity, innovation and collaboration would help put us on a faster growth trajectory. The domestic market is vastly unexplored and we need to come up with innovative solutions to deepen the IT penetration beyond the urban masses,” he said.

He added that the challenge today is of creating a robust IT infrastructure across the dimensions of the nation to enable easy information access for the common masses.

Sandeep Nair said, “I am grateful to the industry for reposing faith in me. For India to emerge globally competitive in the hardware arena, apart from creating a vibrant domestic market we need to create a stable policy regime. A robust and encouraging ecosystem covering all aspects of the downstream industry will enable us emerge as a strong IT manufacturing nation.”
