Four new members join WiMAX Forum board

The addition of the new members would demonstrate their strong commitment to drive momentum for the adoption of WiMAX as a leading broadband wireless Internet technology

PORTLAND, USA:WiMAX Forum, a worldwide consortium focused on global adoption of WiMAX, announced on Wednesday the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors.

The new members are Ali Tabassi, senior vice president of global ecosystem and standards for Clearwire Corporation, Dave Williams, senior vice president of wireless technology at Comcast Cable, Thomas Lee, vice director of industry standards department for Huawei Technologies, and Bao-Shuh Paul Lin, vice president and general director of the Information and Communications Research Laboratories at Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), said a press release.

“The WiMAX Forum’s Board of Directors comprises a diverse group of the industry’s top operators, device and infrastructure vendors and chipset vendors,” said Ron Resnick, president and chairman of the WiMAX Forum.

He added that the addition of these industry leaders to the board demonstrates their strong commitment to drive momentum for the adoption of WiMAX as a leading broadband wireless Internet technology of choice available today.

WiMAX Forum Board has members from Airspan Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, Alvarion, Aperto Networks, British Telecom, Fujitsu, Intel Corporation, KDDI, KT, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung, Sprint, and ZTE.

The WiMAX Forum’s membership base represents a thriving WiMAX ecosystem which supports the more than 455 WiMAX network deployments in 135 countries, the release added.
