BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM, a provider in information technology products and services, today announced that Gujarat-based Torrent Pharmaceuticals has appointed IBM India for consulting services including upgrading of their SAP application and hardware infrastructure. This partnership will help Torrent Pharma gear up for the next level of growth, said a press release. As part of the engagement, IBM will also help Torrent comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), through the use of Parallel Ledger functionality in New General Ledger (New GL). IBM will enhance the Disaster Recovery (DR) processes at Torrent Pharma to ensure a near-zero data loss model, said the release. In addition, the engagement will help Torrent upgrade their hardware infrastructure, in order to address the higher power usage that Torrent would need for running the new version of SAP (ECC 6.0), it added. On the announcement, a spokesperson for Torrent Pharma said that IBM was chosen after Request for Proposals (RFP) were invited and evaluated from many SAP implementers in the country. IBM said it is also creating unique solutions and localizing innovation efforts to cater to specific client needs in an Indian context. “IBM has developed a portfolio of repeatable, automated services solutions that enables us to deliver business value rapidly and reliably to our clients across a range of industries,” Sandip Patel, managing partner, Global Business Services, IBM India/ South Asia. “We are proud to help clients like Torrent Pharma who view both IT and business strategy as a complementary piece and not an isolated one.”
