BANGALORE, INDIA:The ongoing global economic slowdown has resulted in higher rates of job cuts and decline in recruitment opportunities.
For the past few months there has been only one thing buzzing all around - 'layoff' or 'job cuts'.
However, what Infosys Technologies Ltd has said today after releasing the Q3 results comes as a breather to the aspirant techies. It made it clear that the company will continue to hire and give placement offers.
The rate of attrition of the company has come down to 11.8 per cent compared to 12.8 per cent in the last quarter, Infosys said.
Infosys had announced earlier that it would make a gross addition of 25,000 people this year. This may go up to 27,000, said Mohandas Pai, member of board, Infosys. The job offers BPO and services sectors also include campus placement.
"We are in the process of making offers and we will be honouring most of them," Pai said.
He further added that the company is going to improve its performance management system.
Commenting on the global recession affecting jobs, Pai said that, in the current scenario the company needs only the work force which is hard working. "Tolerance towards non-performers is non-existing," he asserted.
Last year the company had made over 18,000 recruitment offers out of which 2000 remained outstanding.
Currently, the total employee strength of the company is gross of over one lakh three thousand odd employees out of which 5,799 were gross addition in the third quarter.
Infosys recently had mentioned that it will not recruit employees of crisis fallen company Satyam.
The company's board of members today said that it respects the employees of Satyam. The company is showing a sense of responsibility by taking such a decision as it feels that Satyam's employees should stand by the company in such a situation, the leaders at Infosys said.
They further added that Infosys does not want to hire any employee from a troubled company.
