“Well, then, you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.” -The cat in 'Alice in Wonderland'
BANGALORE: World's getting weirder day by day and so is the online social networking. Gone beyond networking of humans, the social media has got all kinds of species from robots, birds to cats following them. Sockington, a cat on Twitter has become an instant celebrity with over half a million followers, 517,098 to be precise. The group following this cat are called the sock army. With its hilarious looking posts in the meow language, Sockington has said to have achieved this huge fan following within three months, say media reports. After achieving a record number of followers, one of the posts read, “RUNNING DOWN FROM ATTIC TO ANNOUNCE HALF MILLION FOLLOWERS OF SOCKINGTON now where is the 500k catnip prize I was promised.” A recent example of meow posts include: 'lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick OK CLEAN wait missed a spot lick lick lick.' The posts are written by the cat's owner Jason Scott, who also has also got instant recognition and is found giving several media interviews. But the celebrity status is not without brickbats either, as is the case of any celebrity. There are people who feel that this is kind of a hype. But one thing is sure, even the criticism shows the reach of the social networking sites. After all, even every cat has a day! What do you say?
