BANGALORE, INDIA: UFOs have always been a mystery and amazement for the human beings. Every other day we hear about the sighting of UFO’s in different parts of the world.
But when search giant Google came with a new doodle with the image of the UFO, a saucer-shaped spacecraft, it has become mysterious news because the new logo on the Google Search homepage linked the users to ‘Unexplained Phenomenon’.
Normally Google links its doodle with some specific event or launch. But here it is the term "unexplained phenomenon" which aroused sort of unexplained curiosity among the readers.
Interestingly, ‘unexplained phenomenon’ happened to be one of the top trending search terms on Google on Saturday and also in the top 10 search terms is the phrase ‘top 10 unexplained phenomena’.
So, what is Google up to with this mystery? Is the search giant that is used to making news every now and then, trying to tell the users something? Or is it that the mystery is a selling tactics?
Of course, bloggers have umpteen theories to explain. According to one blogger, “Aliens landed on Earth this day last year”, while another feels that the dominance of Google may extend beyond this planet.
Another Twitter user commented, “Is Google taking us for an alien ride?!”
But late on Saturday Google further added to the mystery with a statement.
“We consider the second ‘o’ critical to user recognition of our brand and pronunciation of our name. We are actively looking into the mysterious tweet that has appeared on the Google twitter stream and the disappearance of the “o” on the Google homepage. We hope to have an update in the coming weeks,” Telegraph.co.uk quoted Google as saying in the statement.
